Introducing the XenReference card for XenApp!

Forbes Guthrie has been producing excellent “vReference” cards for VMware for a long time now and I’ve always thought something similar was needed for Citrix as well. The purpose of the card is to be a quick reference guide for basic XenApp 6 information and a useful tool for studying for the “Basic Administration for Citrix XenApp 6” (1Y0-A18) exam. I created the categories based off the XenApp 6 exam prep guide and used Citrix eDocs to create some of the content.
I fully intend to create updated versions of this document with more content and a more polished presentation. If anyone has any feedback, let me know. Content or category suggestions/alterations/deletions would be helpful as well as any suggestions regarding formatting. If you have an opinion on how to improve the document in any way, I’d love to hear it!

I like this kind of card, maybe you should make a third one, like an organization chart to order the different step ?

Hey,
it seems as if you might’ve made a typo in the text though.
You say “The citrix-offline plugin is required to stream applications”
“the citrix-online plugin is required for offline access to streamed applications and configure profiles for streaming”
isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?

Thanks for the feedback, Daniel! However, these two statements are correct.
To stream applications at all, the offline plugin is a requirement. This is the component that handles the streaming portion of the technology (though its’ name is confusing, IMO). Also, if you want to stream applications offline, the online plugin is required. Now, what may be confusing is that I did not also specify that the offline plugin is required to stream applications offline as well. I think I originally didn’t include that in that last sentence because I had previously specified (in the first sentence you referenced) that the offline plugin was required to stream applications, period.
So, I could amend that last sentence to “the citrix online and offline plugins are required for offline access to streamed applications…” Does that make sense? Would that wording change make this clearer?

Well, maybe I should’ve known and now with your explenation it makes sence so you probably do not need to add any more information, I’m just questioning in the way I am. 🙂
A sidenote is that it’s absolutly crazy with the naming of the plugins?
Why name it Citrix offline plugin at all? And not just Citrix plugin, and if you want to stream applications offline call it Citrix offline plugin.
